Hire backend engineers

The decisions nobody sees are the ones you live with longest.

A backend hire is a bet on judgement. The data model somebody chooses in month one decides what is cheap and what is impossible in year three, and a retry written carelessly becomes a duplicate charge nobody can explain. We place engineers who have maintained what they built and have therefore stopped making the fast decisions that cost more later.

What's Included

APIs other teams can build against

Consistent contracts, honest error responses, versioning planned before it is needed, and documentation that matches the behaviour. Judged by whether a client team can integrate without a call, which is a higher bar than whether it works.

Data models that hold up

Schemas that reflect the business rather than the first screen, constraints enforced in the database rather than hoped for in application code, and indexes chosen from real query patterns. Also comfortable migrating a live table without a maintenance window.

Queues, jobs, and idempotency

Background work that can be retried without doing anything twice, failures that land somewhere visible instead of disappearing, and ordering guarantees understood rather than assumed. This is where quiet data corruption comes from.

Authentication and permissions done properly

Sessions and tokens handled correctly, permissions enforced at the boundary rather than in the interface, and tenant isolation that holds under a mistake. The kind of code that is never noticed until the day it is the only thing that mattered.

Systems you can see inside

Structured logs, useful traces, metrics on the things that actually indicate health, and alerts that fire before a customer emails. An engineer who has been on call builds this by reflex, and one who has not usually leaves it out.

Cloud and deployment fluency

Containers, pipelines, infrastructure defined as code, and enough platform knowledge to make sensible choices without waiting for a separate team. Not a replacement for a platform engineer, but not helpless without one either.

How we work

How the work runs

  1. Tell us the role

The stack, the seniority, the hours you need covered, and what the person will actually own. A short brief beats a job description, because it tells us what good looks like here.

passed when the role and the overlap hours are agreed

  2. Meet matched candidates

You interview a short list of engineers who have already passed our assessment, not a queue of CVs. Nobody is placed with you who you have not spoken to yourself.

passed when you have said yes to a specific person

  3. They join your team

Your repository, your standup, your review process, your definition of done. They take direction from your leads from the first week rather than working to a separate plan of ours.

passed when they ship without being walked through it

  4. Scale, or stop

Add people as the work grows and reduce on notice when it does not. If the fit is wrong, tell us early and we replace them at our cost.

no minimum term: notice, not lock-in

How pricing works

when you need hands, not a hire

Monthly rate per engineer

One rate covering the engineer, contracts, payroll, tax and compliance. You are billed for time worked, from the day they start.

when you are comparing us to an agency

No recruitment or placement fee

Nothing is charged for the match itself. If it does not work out, you have not already paid a fee for the privilege.

when you cannot forecast past a quarter

Notice, not lock-in

Scale up or down on notice instead of committing to a term. A wrong fit is replaced at our cost.
